Location 1980 Meetup August to January 5th

On my return to going to oc meetup, I continued with trying to learn to do pen drawings.

This is one of my first attempts at a doing the undraped figure in pen. I really like how the portrait ended up and haven't really duplicated the same shading since.

An attempt to use the same shading as above. The face wasn't as heavily shadowed. I found the speed of the pen across the paper really altered the quality of the line. I can very easily move the pen faster than the ink can flow to create a nice even line. Using this I can vary the width of the line a bit.

Sort of got three different styles of drawing on this page. The top two drawings are done with my brush pen. I like the expression I managed to capture on the portrait.

I think this was a 15 minuter. I like how the shading turned out on this one. Moved the pen fairly fast for the shading.

Starting to find a couple more tones. Wish I had taked a reference photo for this one, so I could finish the hair

This is a fairly small drawing. Only used a quick sketch. This was another 15er. Like how the shading worked on this one.

The first one I finished from reference. I think this was an hour pose. I like how the shading came out in the middle, but am not sure about the unity of the whole pic. Hair probably needs shading.

Really like how this one turned out. A lot of people that night had some nice drawings of this pose. I think I would have toned the face differently if I did it again. Maybe just lighter.

I like the shading on the left boot.

I like the expression here. Decided to use only two tones for flesh. I didn't get a photo ref, so I didn't really finish the arm.

Same night as above. Finished with a G nib instead of the Sakura pigmas. Has a more organic feel because of it.

Really like how this one turned out.

Night was too cold for undraped. I also forgot my camera to take photo refs, so I mostly finished these on site.

Next three are 5 min. sketches. Somehow they turned out pretty interestingly. I'm not sure how much was me and how much was the model. Will try to use the brush pen more on the quick poses.
