These are from the January 28th meetup. I didn't spend enough time one the face in the first one. I rushed it at the end and it shows. The proportions are all a bit off. The chin is too pointy, and it doesn't look much like her. However I do like the shading I have for everything else. On the second pose, I worked a bit smaller than I have recently and tried to be more precise with my charcoal. Rather than going back and fixing mistakes, I tried to make fewer things I needed to correct. This was the first time I've had a face on portrait to do, and I screwed up a few things. Most of them I managed to correct, but the eyes ended up being a little too big. Overall though I liked how it turned out. I just wish I had another half hour to finish the rest of the figure.
I continued to try to keep my drawing a little smaller. The head on the first portrait ended up being a bit cartoonish. I would have gone back and fixed this but I ran out of time. I worked a lot on the shading of the front leg, and it ended up coming out ok. I'm not satisfied with it for some reason I can't put my fingure on. The second pose I decided to try and use colored paper. I also went with conte pencils, since I didn't have any white pastel or chalk. It ended up being ok, but I felt like I was fighting with the grain of the paper too much. I also overworked the face and it ended up being a bit too dark. Next time I use this paper I think I need to use the smoother side, or use charcoals and work bigger.
